When a project is built to inspire the next generation, it needs a roof that will stand the test of time. Story Roofing Company was honored to provide the roofing for Northwestern Michigan College’s newly expanded aviation hangar on Aero Park Drive in Traverse City.
The hangar, now more than doubled in size to 33,530 square feet, is the centerpiece of NMC’s Aviation Division expansion. With this project, the college can grow its fleet of training aircraft and welcome 50 new aviation students each year, helping to answer the nationwide demand for skilled pilots, instructors, and mechanics.
At Story Roofing, we take pride in knowing our work protects more than just a structure. This new roof safeguards a space where dreams will take flight, where students will prepare for careers, and where our northern Michigan community will benefit from the opportunities this expansion brings.
As a trusted roofing contractor across Traverse City, Gaylord, Buckley, and Manistique, we understand that every project—big or small—deserves the same level of quality and care. For NMC, that meant delivering a roofing system that matches the strength, precision, and forward vision of the aviation program itself.
We’re proud to have been chosen to contribute to a project that will impact our region for decades to come. Just like the roofs we install every day, NMC’s new hangar is built on a foundation of durability and excellence—ready to protect the future of flight in northern Michigan.
